What the design means
Seated hacker with a laptop on his lap, built from 61 thin mirror-polished stainless-steel profiles with gaps between them (a technique taken from sculptor Julian Voss-Andreae), on a Corten-steel base. It is clear from the side and almost invisible head-on, standing for Satoshi's anonymity and retreat from public life. Someone standing behind it is reflected in the face, so "We are all Satoshi". The "cliché" hacker deliberately honours all the developers who built Bitcoin. It is deliberately not a portrait, so it stays valid even if Satoshi is ever identified (Tobias Girstmair). Vienna was chosen as the home of the Austrian School of economics (Menger, Mises, Hayek).Sources: Bitcoin Austria: Satoshi statue pageBitcoin Austria: Vienna unveilingTrending Topics

🧭 Visiting
Getting there
Take the U-Bahn U2 to Krieau, then walk toward the OMV Hoch Zwei building until you reach the start of the lake. Those are Bitcoin Austria's own directions.
Per OpenStreetMap, Krieau (U2) station is about 130 m from the statue in a straight line, and a Krieau bus stop is about 170 m away. Bus route numbers are unverified.
Parking: the paid multi-storey Messe Parkhaus D is about 180 m away (OpenStreetMap). Rates and opening hours are unverified.
Exact spot
At the head of the lake (Seeanfang) in Viertel Zwei, right next to the OMV Hoch Zwei building, 1020 Vienna (Leopoldstadt). Pin: 48.21351, 16.41363 (OpenStreetMap node 14287266624).
Photo tip
Bitcoin Austria says the figure is clearly visible from the side and almost invisible from the front, so take one shot from each angle to show the disappearing effect. Their party trick is to have a friend stand behind the statue. Everyone in front then sees that person's reflection in Satoshi's face, as in "We are all Satoshi".
Generic tip (not from a source): the 61 steel profiles are mirror-polished, so watch for glare and your own reflection in direct sun.
Hours & access
Outdoors and publicly accessible at any time (Bitcoin Austria: "jederzeit öffentlich zugänglich", "Öffentlich, im Freien"). No admission fee is mentioned. Bitcoin Austria's "free entry" note was for the unveiling event.
